6 Hotels with Sleep Number Beds (and Alternatives)

Hotel Room Bed with Lights on at Night

After a full day of attending conferences or enjoying time with family, travelers need a bed that is soft (or firm) to their liking and can help them recuperate faster. While a traditional mattress may not always make this possible, a Sleep Number bed does the job wonderfully – even allowing two people to have different firmness levels of their side of the bed. For this reason, Sleep Number beds blew up commercially and became a preferred choice for hotel beds.

Here is a list of hotel chains and hotels with Sleep Number beds:

  1. Radisson Hotel Group
  2. The Line Austin
  3. Domain Hotel
  4. Bayfront Inn 5th Avenue
  5. Doubletree by Hilton Hotel San Antonio Downtown
  6. Clarion Inn & Suites Clearwater Central

When Westin Hotels first introduced the Heavenly Bed in 1999, the hotel chain knew that a celestial night’s sleep was essential for any traveler. The look and feel of hotel beds can make or break a well-planned trip. Hence, the hotel heavily marketed its use of plush beddings and soft-as-cloud mattresses. While the idea seemed laughable at first for some, other hotel chains soon jumped on the bandwagon. Consequently, floral bedspreads and lifeless linen became a thing of the past. Designer duvets and premium mattresses were born, and adjustable beds became normal.

Hotels with Sleep Number Beds

Radisson Hotel

1. Radisson Hotel Group

The Radisson Hotel Group has been offering Sleep Number Beds with its rooms since 2004. These mattresses have air chambers that allow the firmness of each side of the bed to be adjusted. And while the hotel chain has tons of branches, not all Radisson properties have Sleep Number beds. Among the confirmed Radisson hotels with Sleep Number beds are Radisson Blu, Park Plaza, Radisson Martinique, Radisson Fort McDowell Resort & Casino, Radisson Worldgate, and Radisson Hotel & Suites Fallsview. Country Inn & Suites Port Canaveral, Radisson Suite Hotel Oceanfront, and Radisson Hotel Lake Buena Vista are some of the hotels with Sleep Number beds in Florida.

2. The Line Austin

Formerly known as Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin, this 428-room hotel overlooks Congress Bridge and is ideally located in the heart of downtown Austin. The room offers guests views of the capitol and access to the Town Lake hike and bike trails, with its interior designed to make anyone comfortable. Amenities include Sleep Number beds and Bellino linens (view on Amazon), flat-screen HD LED TV, minibar with local drinks and snacks, work table and chair, walk-in rain showers, and full-height windows with blackout drapes. A Southwestern-inspired restaurant called Chavez, a newly renovated infinity pool, and a chic sun deck are additional highlights. Rates start at $205 per night.

3. Domain Hotel

One of the green hotels in the south bay, the Domain Hotel by Joie de Vivre (former Radisson Sunnyvale), offers 124 rooms and 12 suites decorated in two themes – Tranquility and Awakening. Awakening-themed rooms are bright, expressive green rooms with natural accents such as fresh sprigs of lemongrass, meant to stimulate the senses and bring the outside in. Conversely, Tranquility-themed rooms are complete with textural blue hues and lavender blooms intended to calm and refresh guests. Both of these rooms are furnished with flat-panel HD TV, complimentary hi-speed Internet access, iPod docking stations, simple workspaces, and yes – Sleep Number beds.

4. Bayfront Inn 5th Avenue

This accommodation in Naples is one of the hotels with Sleep Number beds in Florida. Standard rooms provide travelers a choice between a King-size bed or two Double beds. Premium luxury rooms and the penthouse automatically come with Sleep Number beds, complemented by soft Trillium Gel pillows, upgraded high count cotton bed linens and sheet duvet, and incredible waterfront bay views. All lodgings have an LCD flat-screen TV, ionic hairdryer (view on Amazon), stereo CD alarm clock, hi-speed internet, and seating area. Rates for premium luxury rooms are between $274 to $520 per night.

5. Doubletree by Hilton Hotel San Antonio Downtown

  • Same-day dry cleaning
  • An outdoor pool/hot tub
  • A 24/7 business area with free Wi-Fi
  • A Precor fitness room

6. Clarion Inn & Suites Clearwater Central

Apart from its convenient location in central Clearwater, modern amenities, free deluxe continental breakfast, and Wi-Fi, the many charms of this pet-friendly inn include being one of the hotels with Sleep Number beds in Florida. This feature allows travelers to explore nature, have a splash at the nearby Clearwater Beach, catch a game at the Spectrum Field, take a ferry to Caldesi Island State Park, and simply relax in the comforts of their plush beds at night.

The Great Bed Wars

Other hotels have signature mattresses that provide luxurious comfort comparable to those offered in Radisson hotels with Sleep Number beds. Since all hotels can’t use Sleep Number beds, here are other popular options if you are in search of comfortable signature hotel beds within North America:

1. Westin Heavenly Bed

It was the first signature luxe bed to have ever been made for a hotel chain. This 10-layer, 13-inch pillow top mattress (c/o Simmons) wrapped in a 250-thread-count sheet and with reinforced edges give any sleeper much-needed back support along with soft comfort. Initially introduced in Starwood properties in 1999, the Heavenly Bed is also available in the Westin San Francisco Market Street, the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, the Westin Boston Waterfront, and other mid-priced motels and Westin-named properties.

2. Hyatt’s Grand Bed

This 13-inch-thick, pillowtop Sealy Posturepedic mattress with 250-thread-count triple sheets and a down duvet (view on Amazon) is guaranteed to make you fall asleep like a baby. It also reduces the sleep-disturbing effects of body movements should you be sleeping with a partner. Some travelers say that this bed feels far superior to Westin’s Heavenly Bed.

3. Hilton Mattress & Box Spring

More popularly known as Serenity Bed or Garden Sleep System Adjustable Bed, this exclusive Hilton-Serta custom hotel bed design features a unique proprietary internal design that prevents edge breakdown, and extra coil support reinforces it. Its patented quilt design and plush top mattress improves blood circulation and reduces nighttime restlessness, which is excellent for business travelers. The mattress works best with Hilton linens, available in a variety of thread counts and fabrications. The Garden Sleep System Adjustable Bed is specifically only available in standard king rooms and suites at select Hilton Garden Inn properties.

4. DUX by Duxiana

The Setai in Miami Beach and a group of hotels in New York, including the elegant Quin Hotel, the modern Langham Place, and the Greenwich Hotel (co-owned by Robert De Niro), source this luxury mattress for their rooms – which Duxiana claims allow 10% more deep sleep compared to other mattress brands. The DUX® Axion (or Dux Dynamic Adjustable Bed) has the elevation capabilities of an adjustable bed, with its silent motor helping you settle into the right height and angle for an energizing rest.

5. W Hotels Mattress

Another Simmons design, this signature featherbed at the W San Francisco, W Washington DC, W Retreat & Spa – Vieques Island, W Atlanta – Buckhead, and all other W hotels relieve pressure points with its special Visco Memory Foam (view on Amazon). Colorful cashmere throws and down-filled pillows complement the mattress, setting the mood for a fantastic night’s sleep and a luxe experience. The Helix Dawn mattress is a near-perfect replica of the beds used in W Hotels.

6. Simmons BeautyRest Black

This ultra-luxurious hotel bed is available in the following hotels:

  • St. Regis Hotels & Resorts
  • Sheraton Hotel
  • Best Western Hotels and Resorts
  • Executive Residency
  • SureStay Hotels
  • All Starwood properties

They feature Simmons’ AirCool design that enhances the airflow throughout the mattress until the edge. It is also equipped with a top layer of micro-diamond memory foam and pocketed coil technology. The diamonds conduct heat away from the body to prevent overheating, while the coil technology ensures strong back support and minimized motion transfer. The mattress is then finished with cashmere quilting and modal yarns.

7. Four Seasons Bed

Select Four Seasons properties offer this bed, custom-designed with Simmons Bedding Company. Guests are made to take their pick from three different mattress toppers:

  • Plush (extra soft option)
  • Firm (most supportive)
  • Signature (standard topper)

These have sustainable wood foundations, a GelTouch foam center that absorbs heat, and a coil system that helps minimize motion transfer between two people. Although exclusive to Four Seasons properties, you can purchase a Saatva Classic mattress for your home, which has an almost similar feel to the beds used at the hotel.

8. Marriott Official Bed

Marriott Hotels and Resorts instinctively took after Westin’s pillow-puff, rolling out their Marriott bed in 2000. At present, all Marriott rooms feature both an all-foam and an innerspring version mattress. The all-foam model uses a unique high-density, soy-based foam at a medium-to-firm comfort level with a quilted Damask cover that supports cooling. The innerspring version provides stable edge support and a durable feel. The Wink Bed is an excellent alternative to the Marriott bed that you can have at home.

9. Stay Well Mattress

Wyndham Hotels, including Ramada Worldwide, Wyndham Grand, Dolce Hotel and Resorts, Esplendor Boutique Hotels, Dazzler Hotels, Trademark Hotel Collection, AmericInn, Baymont Inn & Suites, Microtel by Wyndham, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Knights Inn, and other Wyndham-named accommodations, have been fully utilizing the Stay Well Mattress (natural memory foam mattress derived from organic cotton, pure hevea milk, and essential oils) since 2019. This bed’s 2-inch quilted topper (view on Amazon) offers medium to firm support with a layer of plush comfort and ties up to their Stay Well rooms, along with other wellness features, such as:

  • air purification
  • aromatherapy
  • Circadian lighting
  • dawn simulator
  • Stay Well Mattress
  • Guided Meditation by Deepak Chopra

10. Affinia Bed

It is topped with the Sealy Posturepedic Plush Sleep System and comes with a box spring that firmly supports the back and improves the mattress’s longevity. Sleepers have six unique pillow options to choose from, such as a natural buckwheat version, a pillow with therapeutic magnets, or a memory foam pillow. You can find this bed in the Liaison Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. or Affinia in Shelburne and Manhattan.

11. Fairmont Gold Bed

Fairmount Hotel partnered with Sealy Sterns & Foster and, consequently, offered the Fairmont signature beds. These mattresses include a Sealy Posturepedic orthopedic support system, Euro plush pillowtop, reinforced gel memory foam, and additional layers of breathable silk and wool fiber upholstery for extra comfort.

12. Tempur-Pedic

Every room in the Hotel on Rivington in New York has a Tempur-Pedic bed. These form-fitting, weight-distributing mattresses adjust with a sleeper’s movement to maintain proper spinal alignment and relieve pain at key pressure points — whether a person sleeps on his side, stomach, or back, or all three. The Heathman Hotel in Kirkland, Washington and Portland, Oregon, the Tower 23 Hotel in San Diego, the Perry Hotel, Catalina Hotel, the Gallery Inn, and Cap Maison Resort & Spa all use Tempur-Pedic beds too.

13. Hästens Beds

Starting from $10,000, these premium luxury beds with seven horsehair layers are found in Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin and Ty Warner Penthouse in New York. These one-of-a-kind mattresses are handmade by Hästens, a Swedish company previously appointed as the official mattress maker for Sweden’s royal family. The cushion that went into the canopy bed in the Ty Warner Penthouse is woven with 22-carat golden thread, wrapped in hand-stamped Venetian velvet and Thai silk, and costs $140,000.

This rundown should give you a good idea of alternative mattresses used by other well-known hotels. Some are adjustable beds, while others are downright luxurious or handmade. Note that this listing is not exhaustive and does not include other mid-range to high-end accommodations like the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) Hotels, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, and The Ritz-Carlton, among others.

Alternative Options

If any of the abovementioned accommodations or beds is not within your vicinity, it would be best to call the specific hotel you have in mind and ask if it has Sleep Number or adjustable beds available. You may also inquire about the mattress material the hotel beds have. The following are all plush materials and more than compensate for the absence of a Sleep Number bed:

  • Hybrid Mattress (view on Amazon). Mattresses with two or more materials, for instance – foam and pocketed coils.
  • Innerspring Mattress. These are mattresses that have an innerspring or coil system inside. They provide a lot of bounce and airflow but may not be ideal for light sleepers or those sleeping with someone who moves a lot.
  • Memory Foam. It is a contouring type of foam that relieves pressure. However, it may feel like you are sinking into the bed while you sleep. Additionally, it needs to have temperature regulating tech if you do not want the mattress to retain heat.
  • Latex Foam. It has a spongy feel with a lot of bounce to it. It is also contouring but will not get that feeling of sinking as much as you would on memory foam. Because this material is aerated, it is cooler to sleep on.
  • Polyurethane Foam. It has a classic neutral-feel and contour responsiveness between that of latex foam and memory foam. It either acts as a dense support layer or a comfortable, light top layer.

Conclusion – Hotels with Sleep Number Beds

In summary, here are the hotels with Sleep Number beds:

  1. Radisson Hotel Group
  2. The Line Austin
  3. Domain Hotel
  4. Bayfront Inn 5th Avenue
  5. Doubletree by Hilton Hotel San Antonio Downtown
  6. Clarion Inn & Suites Clearwater Central

One takeaway from this article is that Sleep Number Beds seem to be more common in American and Canadian hotels. Radisson hotels in the UK use a different type of mattress. Another takeaway is that it is difficult to look up hotels with Sleep Number beds online, as there is no centralized list for this, and most travel sites do not have a filter for this bed type. The best method is to either visit the hotel’s website, ring them up, or directly ask the hotel staff about bed availability. Of course, accommodations with a Sleep Number bed are never a guarantee, as it largely depends on where your adventure takes you. When that happens, you can refer to this guide for other options.
